Finally, in Wellington, the nation's capital, we visit the Weta Workshop's Weta Cave where we view their promotional video and have an opportunity to view and purchase souvenirs. And during your free time in Wellington, why not take in the sights. Highly recommended are a visit to Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand, or a ride on the iconic Wellington Cable Car for great views over the city.

The Interislander Ferry Crossing

Included in your tour cost is your crossing from The North Island to the South Island on the Interislander ferry.

Widely regarded as one of the World's great ferry trips, the 3 to 4 hour transit takes you across Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton, in the Marlborough Sounds.

South Island Highlights

Your South Island adventure begins.

Horses, Dart Stables, Ride of the Rings

Shortly after arriving in Picton, we head west towards Nelson, stopping along the way at the Pelorous River, the site where the Dwarfs escaped from the Elves. One of the highly recommended optional extras is a two and a half hour helicopter flight with landings at the South of Rivendell and Dimrill Dale. Whilst in Nelson we visit the maker of the One Ring and have the chance to view a range of LOTR jewellery.

The stunning Kaikoura coast beckons and we have the chance to view a seal colony and take an optional whale watch tour. Further south we visit Edoras and stand on the site of Golden Hall, before traveling past the beautiful turquoise water of Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki. In the distance, New Zealand's highest peak, Mt Cook, pierces the clouds. The Pelennor Fields, and the Great Chase sites are on our itinerary as we head to the pretty lakeside town of Wanaka.

Next stop the site of the Rohan village before heading to New Zealand's "Adventure Capital", Queenstown.

Surrounded by towering peaks and built on the shores of a shimmering lake, Queenstown has to be one of the most picturesque towns on earth. Whilst in the region we visit the Orc funeral pyre, Fangorn Forest the log which hid Merry and Pippin, and the site where Frodo and Sam paddled away. Stunning scenery so have your camera at the ready. Your final day before heading home is yours to do with as you please. And with so much to see and do in Queenstown you will be spoilt for choice. Perhaps a gondola ride to Bob's Peak for breathtaking views, or a trip to Walter Peak station on the historic steamship, TSS Earnslaw. For the more adventurous, a bungy jump or white water rafting are just two of the many available optional extras.
