Activities
There is a wide range of activities available to you during your stay with us at Edenhouse.
Perhaps
the number one attraction in the region, the Abel Tasman National Park
has been a favourite and "must see" for our guests.
Although it is New Zealand's smallest national park, it consistently
rates as one of the top 5 tourist attractions in the country. From it's
secluded bays, white sandy beaches, and emerald waters, to it's variety
of marine life and superb walking trails, Abel Tasman National Park will
leave you amazed with it's beauty.
Park activities can be tailor-made to suit your tastes. Perhaps a visit to the seal colony,
or kayaking in a tranquil lagoon. Or snorkelling and swimming?
We can arrange a gourmet lunch afloat or on a beach, and there are
several bush walk options, as well as fishing expeditions. Combination
boating, hiking and kayaking trips can also be arranged to give you a
complete Abel Tasman experience. Or you may just prefer to relax with a
glass of local wine and enjoy the surroundings and sights of the Abel
Tasman.
A perfect way to see the region is by air (particularly
if your time is limited). We can arrange a very special day where you
travel by boat into the park, then board a fixed wing aircraft at Awaroa
for your tour of the region. You will get a bird's eye view of the Abel
Tasman and Farewell Spit, the world's longest natural sandbar. Land at
Karamea, one of New Zealand's most remote towns, where you can share a
drink with locals at the Karamea Village Hotel, before returning by air
to the lodge.
Another option is a tour to Golden Bay. As well as
Farewell Spit, Golden Bay is also home to Pupu Springs, the largest
cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere. The clarity of the water
is second only to Antarctica, and the springs discharge up to 14,000
litres per second! Eco tours to the spit in purpose built four wheel
drive vehicles can be arranged to give you a close up experience of this
beautiful area.
Other close by activities include fly and float
fishing on the Motueka River, flights in a Pitts Special Stunt Plane,
vineyard and wine tasting tours, cruising on 50 foot and 90 foot yachts,
helihiking and helibiking tours, and a visit to the World of Wearable
Arts in Nelson.
No matter what your preference, you will find something to suit in our wonderful region.
